One Book, One Milton is a community-wide program designed to encourage everyone in Milton to read the same book – similar to one really big book club. The program engages the community through the shared experience of reading and discussing the same book: its contents, themes and relevance, as it relates to the Milton Community. The community is encouraged to participate in several lead up programs as well as the main event with the author themselves.
This year, Milton Public Library is thrilled to host an evening with Academy® Award-winning screenwriter and acclaimed actor and director, Sarah Polley on Thursday, October 26th at 7pm at the First Ontario Arts Centre. The event will be hosted by Eleanor Wachtel and the captivating pair are expected to deliver an entertaining evening.
Tickets to the event sold out quickly this summer with the Milton community eager to see Sarah take the stage to discuss her #1 National Bestseller, Run Towards the Danger, this October. Run Towards the Danger, a collection of six essays capturing pieces of Sarah’s life as she remembers it, explores memory and the dialogue between her past and present. The book is the winner of the 2022 Toronto Book Awards, a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice and was named a most-anticipated book of 2022 by Entertainment Weekly, Lit Hub and AV Club.
Books with signed book plates are for sale for $20 each or for free to borrow digitally or in physical copy at all branches.
Although the event is currently sold out, pairs of tickets are available to win through MPL’s Trivia Tuesdays on their Facebook page until October 10th.
