Doug Gilmour & Gregg Zaun to headline 14th Annual Sports Celebrity Dinner

SportsCeleb2016DEC17MILTON, ON (January 7, 2016) – Hockey Hall of Famer Doug Gilmour and outspoken baseball analyst Gregg Zaun will be among a host of outstanding former and current athletes at the 14th annual Milton Sports Celebrity Dinner & Auction at the RattleSnake Point Golf Club on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.

The dinner, organized by the Milton Chamber of Commerce, raises funds for the Chamber’s Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to deserving Milton high school students entering post-secondary. Since its creation in 2002, the event has raised more than $250,000.

Included in the evening is an exciting live and silent auction which will include one-of-a-kind sports experiences with the celebrity guests and unique sports memorabilia. One of this year’s feature live auction items is a Toronto Blue Jays behind the scenes, on-field experience with Gregg Zaun at the Rogers Centre.

“Our 2016 Dinner promises to be the best ever,” says Sandy Martin, Executive Director of the Milton Chamber. “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Doug Gilmour and Gregg Zaun among our sports celebrities.”

Gilmour, 52, the general manager of the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League, is a Toronto Maple Leafs legend. A native of Kingston, the centre played for the St. Louis Blues and Calgary Flames (winning a Stanley Cup with the Flames in 1988-89) before being traded to Toronto in January, 1992. In his more than five years with the Leafs he became one of the most popular players in Toronto history, revitalizing the team and becoming captain.

Gilmour played 20 NHL seasons, from 1983 to 2003. In 2009, he was honoured by the Leafs, and his jersey number 93 was raised to the rafters at the Air Canada Centre. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.

Gregg Zaun, 44, is a 16-year Major League Baseball veteran, and an analyst for Rogers Sportnet. A native of Glendale, California, he played for nine teams during his career, winning a World Series with the Florida Marlins in 1997.

With the Toronto Blue Jays from 2004 through 2008, he began his broadcasting career following the 2006 season. From the outset he’s been an insightful, entertaining – and straight shooting – commentator.

Gilmour and Zaun will be joined at the Milton Dinner by a roster of notable sports celebrities, who include hockey stars Al Iafrate and Tom Fergus, Paralympic Sledge Hockey medalist Tyler McGregor and Ken Reid, host of Sportsnet as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. In the meantime, the Chamber’s Sandy Martin is urging those who are interested in attending to purchase their tickets as quickly as possible.

The cost is $175 plus HST for a single ticket, $1,600 plus HST for a table of ten.

In addition, a few sponsorship opportunities remain available.
